Hockey Families:

We hope everyone is doing well. There have been a lot of changes announced in the past week when it comes to youth sports including updates on this coming hockey season.

Here is USA Hockey's official 'Returning to the Rink' guide:

There are two key updates to address with everyone: the rink and next season's teams.

Lysander Rink
We still have rights under our lease to take over operations of the arena from the rink owners and continue to plan on having one rink with ice and one rink with turf. We're continuing to review USA Hockey guidelines and finalizing our own returning to the rink guide so we can make sure the rink meets all safety requirements.

Next Season
Based on the rules set forth by the NYS Amateur Hockey Association, there will be no on-ice tryouts and there cannot be any player cuts. We understand this is a fluid situation and has never happened before, so we, like all other hockey associations in the state, are developing the best plans for our kids.

The Board of Directors has decided on the following system that we will coordinate throughout the month of June.

1) By June 23rd, for all levels, from 8U to 18U, please fill out this form expressing your interest in playing for LYHA in 2020/21:

2) By June 25th, we'll gather all interested players per age level, and get out communication for each level to discuss spring / summer / fall options for each level. Our goal is to safely get each division together (whether in-person or virtual) and then work on team breakdowns after the summer.

3) By July 1st, we will be announcing additional details on this coming season as we get them in.

In the end, we're excited about another hockey season this summer/fall no matter how it shakes out. We're already in talks with many other local hockey associations to make sure we can all work together to ensure a safe and fun hockey season this year.

Any questions just hit reply to this email.
